Madeline Ha-Eun Hawk is a Ph.D. student in the Division of Cinema & Media Studies at the University of Southern California. She previously earned her M.A. in Cinema and Media Studies at USC and a B.A. from DePauw University in English Literature and Film Studies. She was awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship to South Korea in 2016; while teaching high school English for two years, she spent her free time researching South Korea’s popular culture media industries. Her research is invested in the relation between Asian American communities, American histories and legacies of Imperialism, and American sports media industries.
